The essentials

Treat generated answers as drafts. NIST’s generative AI guidance discusses plausible but incorrect output and privacy risks. Confident wording does not establish evidence.

Put it into practice

Choose one key claim, open its original source, check the publication date and jurisdiction, inspect units and time periods, and mark what remains unverified. A working citation is useful only if its page actually supports the claim.

What to check

For a travel checklist, compare the airline’s rules with the destination authority’s guidance. Do not reproduce an invented quotation as a real one. Remove private customer information before requesting help. Record your verification date so the next review starts from evidence.
